Margaret Mitchell - Gone with the Wind.

The best book I have ever read is a historical romance by Margaret Mitchell, Gone with the Wind.
The novel was published in 1936 and it is still famous.
It is the story of the beautiful woman who had almost always reached her goals except for her love goals. Scarlett O’Hara thought she loved a guy whom in fact she didn’t (Ashley). But then she lost the men who loved her first and who was her perfect match (Rhett).
Scarlett is the daughter of an aristocratic family, charm, and her “seventeen-inch waist, the smallest in three counties”. But her greatness is not her waist nor her manners, but her strength and the position of the survivor.
The main idea of the book is only those who are born survivors will really prosper during really hard times.
Rhett knows that there is money to be made during the building of civilization and during the fall.
Ashley joined the war with the hopes of fighting for States’ Rights and preserving the old ways.
Rhett is willing to risk his neck participating in some kind of "not proper" activities to survive.
Ashley is lost without his world of hazy dreams while Scarlett and Rhett take things and use them to their advantage. Scarlett and Rhett, born survivors, they are the perfect match, they do whatever it costs to live and prosper and never be hungry again. Ashley will simply fall by the wayside. Ashley is different and Scarlett would never be happy with him.
They would be happy together, Rhett and Scarlett, they would get ahead in the new South, just Scarlett realizes that Rhett is the men when it is too late.
